Any advice on taking care of my 14 year old who is getting his tonsils removed tomorrow?

I had my tonsils removed for breathing and size issues when I was 4, and my sister after her cyst surgery at 13, and we both agree apart from gentle foods that been distracted is the best thing (my sister got a tv)
