Rabbit Advice: How much does it cost to neuter a male lop eared rabbit?

How much does it cost to neuter a male lop eared rabbit? At what age should I have the procedure done? Is it necessary to have a male lop eared rabbit neutered if is he kept as an indoor pet along with another male lop eared rabbit? Will they really start acting aggressive, charging at me, and biting me if I choose to not neuter them?Rabbit Advice: How much does it cost to neuter a male lop eared rabbit?
I would suggest neutering him just so he doesn't get aggressive. (Only necessary if he's with another rabbit) You usually get it done before he's a year, so he hasn't reached his sexual peak yet. (If you don't, they often still hump afterward because they recognize the feeling) and it usually costs somewhere between 40-100 dollars, depending on where you get it done. Vet's are more expensive. A shelter will do it cheaper(They do these all the time, but make sure you ask how many they have done before, because rabbits often die when under) Make sure you read up on what to do before he goes in, and what to do when he's back home.

Talk to a vet about it, and take him in for checkups if something even seems slightly suspicious. :)

Best of luck, and hope your bunny recovers quick. :)Rabbit Advice: How much does it cost to neuter a male lop eared rabbit?
I live in the UK and it completely depends on what vets you use.

My vet is top quality and seeing as my pets are so precious to me.. I still trust him 100%. This comes with a price however!!

Bad vets will usually charge low and good vets charge a lot.

Just make sure you find a good vet that you trust to carry out the procedure.

As my bunnies are all rescues the majority were done at the rescue centre but my two first bunnies (who I rescued myself) - the doe cost 拢60 and the buck 拢55.

Males can be neutered as soon as their 'plums' drop.

I am fostering some baby rabbits and all 3 boys plum sacks are present which indicates that they're either hoicking their bits up or they will appear very soon. However, they are only 11 weeks and due to their small nature, I'm sure a good vet would not perform this procedure on them. This is important also (that your bunny is in good health and as a good weight.

All bunnies should be neutered at the end of the day. They're A LOT calmer as hormones aren't taking control of their actions, they're healthier as they're not at risk from certain cancers (especially uterine cancer in females). Also they can not reproduce.

Also when you find a mate for your little bud, make sure you get one from a rescue shelter, there are thousands (in UK - probably millions in USA?) looking desperately for homes, plus they'll already have had their vaccinations and sterilisation!

Good luck.
It depends on the veterinarian you go to but usually from $60 - $100 but it can be more at some clinics.

It is not necessary to neuter the rabbit but it would make your life a whole lot easier because they spray a lot and might fight once they are older. They will not act aggressive towards you if you do not neuter them.
the cost depends on the practice you go to. Why not ring around some local vets and ask them how much they charge.

It should be done at around 6 months or older, when they reache maturity.

You should really get them both done as it will cut down on aggressiveness to you and each other. If u keep them together and dont get them done they will fight, and cause serious injury to each other, which may end up costing a lot more than getting them neutered.
Two unneutered rabbits cannot be kept together, you should get at least one neutered, preferably both. I had a friend who bought rabbits from me, she got them fixed and I think it costs about $90. I'm not sure though. Just call your vet and get a quote, they should be able to tell you over the phone. I don't know the right age but I'd say at least 2 lbs in weight. I'm sure they can answer that question too though. Good luck.
These are questions to ask a veterinarian.
it cost at my vet $50 to $75

It depends on the vet clinic and which area you live in. Some areas it only costs $65 when others cost over $100. You'll have to ask the vet clinics in your area.

At what age should I have the procedure done?

The younger the better. If your rabbit is pretty old, I probably wouldn't risk it because of the risk of complications. But if the rabbit is approximately a year old, I'd probably go ahead and do it. You can have the surgery done as soon as the rabbit's testicles drop.

Chances are that even if they're neutered, they'll probably fight at first. Sometimes there's the risk they won't even bond. But you definitely should neuter them because unaltered males can do serious harm to each other. Also, if you don't neuter them there's a good chance that they might start spraying and that can be a bad thing because rabbits have a really good aim. (Neutering doesn't always prevent that behavior but it helps decrease it)

Will they really start acting aggressive, charging at me, and biting me if I choose to not neuter them?

Not at all. They shouldn't. I raised rabbits for years and the only time I've been bitten by a buck was a neutered male netherland dwarf. I've had intact bucks that were the sweetest things on Earth. Leaving them intact won't make them suddenly start acting aggressive. But if your rabbits are already aggressive then that's most likely their personality, not because of their hormones.
