Hi, I am looking to buy a digital camera after saying for years I would stick with my manual. I just no longer want the hassle of carting all my seperate lenses around - terrible, I know! I am looking for a camera to take on my hols and want one that takes good night-time shots and has a good resolution. Preferably under 拢100 please. Any ideas?Advice on a good inexpensive digital camera?
I suggest you look in a magazine like ';What Camera';. The reviews are objective and reliable. Decide what your criteria are for your new camera (you sound experienced so are probably aware of what is most important to you). You should then be able to whittle your choices down using the tables, then go to a dealer and handle them. This could well be the deciding factor between 2 seemingly similar models.Advice on a good inexpensive digital camera?
Canon Ixus range sounds like the one for you. Check Amazon for the Canon Ixus 70.
argos do a 10mp samsung for 拢99
Sony are bomb-proof, or a second hand Cannon powershot s3 or similar shold set you back about 拢100 from a camera shop. (I have one, it's excellent for the uses you require).
Bigger cameras eat the batteries though, so use the viewfinder if you can, not the LCD display, and lay off the flash.
You will probably have to buy a seperate memory card, about 拢25 for a 256 meg card (new).
There are plenty on the market. Do a search with a comparison website to find one at the price you want.
But do include at least a 3x optical zoom, the digital zoom is useless.
Canon powershots, there are many models in the range, go for the one in your budget. They are well balanced and comfortable to hold, great features and pics.
