We are looking at buying a farmhouse with a barn and workshop and small cornfield. It's on 4 acres, not enough for horses or more than a couple cattle, but what animals are the easiest to keep or the most profitable? We'd like chickens, maybe ducks, maybe a beefalo or beef cow or bison.... any advice on what to try?Advice for starting a hobby farm?

It's almost immpossible to profit by raising animals on a small parcel. The best option is to grow things like sweet corn and veggies or berries to sell at a local farm market. You can raise a few animals for your own table though. Chickens and turkeys are easy for beginners. Cattle are difficult for beginners due to health issues.
