What advice would you give a friend whether to buy a PC notebook or Apple notebook?

What are the specifications of each and what is availble and can be done on each. What are the hardware specifications provided for both and their v'extras'.My friend is planning to use this notebook for school and will require the following programs:

Word processing

Budgeting software

Calculator

Internet access.

Please help. Thanx a lot. What advice would you give a friend whether to buy a PC notebook or Apple notebook?
A notebook PC could easily handle all of the applications your friend will need for college and they're also a lot cheaper than Apple.

If your friend has a lot of money to burn and really wants to impress people, then he can go get the Apple.

He won't really notice a difference with the programs he'll be using.

It's like a person that doesn't really travel too much having to choose between a Toyota Corolla or a Mercedes Benz...

* lol@guy above me *What advice would you give a friend whether to buy a PC notebook or Apple notebook?
think of it this way: you get what you pay for. ^_^

windows %26amp; mac will easily do all these tasks, and more.

however, if you want a more attractive, efficient, and overall stable computer %26amp; operating system, you should get an Apple.

of course, let's compare an Apple to, say, a Dell. pricewise, the MacBook will be a bit more than a comprable Dell laptop. MacBooks run at something around $1300. you can get Dells (or just about any other windows laptop) for half that price. it just will probably be more succeptable to viruses and/or crashes. don't let that scare you...millions of windows users put up with that every day. ^_^

basically, what your friend needs to do can easily be done on a used laptop (Windows/PC or MacOS/Apple) that is like 5 years old. the listed tasks are not CPU-intensive, and both windows %26amp; apple will provide fairly user-friendly apps to do these things.

so...if he/she's got a few extra hundred dollars, go for a MacBook (hey, it's even got a built-in webcam. =D)

happy shopping!!
Apple notebook(Macintosh or Mac) is very good if you are familiar with it.(like high range sports car) besides its used for art work by professionals who are into photoshop, web, graphic etc . Its v. fast and a lot better then window ONLY IF you are familiar (expert driver and not L level),else extremly frustrating, because hard to find help from general public.

Lot of free /extras availabale in abundence for window are rare for Mac.

your friend doesnt seem to be on art side, he will use this for accounting stuff. he will be happy with window and not mac. ( its like buying a sports car and driving thru downtown )besides Mac is more expensive too
From what it seems your friend needs, I would say he needs a PC notebook. Apple notebooks are generally for movie editing and pictures, etc and charge more for the software and hardware to do this. It seems you friend needs a basic PC notebook which can be around half the cost of the basic Apple notebook.

Hope that helps
I would not recommend a mac they are for louder more obnoxious people than your friend as the Mr wonderful above illustrates perfectly, a new asus F3 would be an excellent choice for that sort of work.
I would go with a PC simply because everything is cheaper and there are many more options and they're usually not all shiney and stuff so you cant tell they're dirty a week after you get it.
