Leather advice if possible please, which thickness is best for a sofa?

I have swatches of top full leather from a manufacturer to select from to make a sofa. These are of various thicknesses and some have a softer hand than others. Can anyone advise me on what thickness is considered to be the best for sofas?Leather advice if possible please, which thickness is best for a sofa?
The thickness of leather has nothing to do with quality. Some thick leathers can be of poor quality and some thin leathers can be very good quality. A leather can be 'split' to any requires thickness.

The best quality leather is what is called 'full grain'. This is leather from the top split of the hide that has had no buffing done to the top surface to remove imperfections. The leather will simply have some surface finish (either aniline dyed or pigment coated with a finish).

These leathers will generally be softer than others as no fillers etc have been used on the surface.

How soft a leather is generally relates to how much they have done to the surface of the leather to get it to the market place.

There is a big difference between Full Grain and Top Grain

as generally speaking top grain will have been sanded and buffed before it receives its top coating and this makes it a lower quality than full grain

Most leather maunfacturers produce leathers across the spectrum and the price will be a good indicator of how good the quality is

Hope this helpsLeather advice if possible please, which thickness is best for a sofa?
I would personally go with a medium thickness; if it's too thin, it will tear more easily, or to thick it tends to look bulky. Also, I would definitely go with cow hide. All other leather is hot in the summer and cold in the winter. We have a cow hide sectional in our living room and absolutely love it. It's easy to keep clean and we never have to worry about anything happening to it.
Check the backing of leather samples. This will tell u if u have a good quality leather-u do want some thickness BUT-if it looks like a knit fabric on the back %26amp; the leather is thinner u wont get quality.

Ive worked a lot with leather samples. If I were going out to buy leather furniture my first choice would be Natuzzi
I'm going to try and talk u out of leather, #1, leather is hot in summer,#2 leather is cold in winter, #3 leather gets dirty real fast, and is very difficult to clean,#4 if any one wears lotion of any kind, it will come of on the couch and stain. Buy any thing else but leather. I truly hope I convinced you.
