I'm just looking for some advice, tips, suggestions, etc. from anyone who is successfully self-employed. I'm ready for a change and I think self-employment is the way to go.What advice can you give someone trying to become self employed?
I've been self-employed for eight years. The hardest part of being self-employed for me is being good with time-management. I have a tendency to overbook myself, with an eye to a bigger bank account. Then the time comes to do all the work and it's a struggle to get everything done within the time frame that I committed to.
And then there's days like today, when I have 10 hours worth of work lined up but it's a beautiful spring day and all I want to do is sit on the patio and watch the grass grow. Not gonna happen. Self-discipline is hard but necessary! What advice can you give someone trying to become self employed?
Always have some amount of money in investments and other financial vehicles. Although self-employment seems to be a ';get rich quick scheme'; it isn't. You are working for your self. I'd rather have money working for me via stocks, bonds, CD's etc than for me to work for myself and have a huge portion of my profits eaten away by the government.
Good luck however,
